SaveTyping is a writing aid for Microsoft Office in Windows. The application installs itself as a bar that you can use under Microsoft Word. The bar is quite simple, with only 3 drop-down menus and a button. But SaveTyping has the potential of making recurring writing tasks way easier. It becomes of great help especially when writing texts with lots of numbers, particularly measurements. While you are typing, you can have SaveTyping re-write what you write with more detail. For example, if you write 15.5, SaveTyping can transform that into US$ 15.50. You can do the same with a whole text or a single instance of numbers. SaveTyping can also read and understand measurements, units, dates, etc. The smart thing about this application is that you can add custom aliases to the library, which will allow you to specify what the application should do whenever a certain string of text or numbers is encountered. The downside of useing SaveTyping is that the user has to learn to type and write differently, trusting SaveTyping will do the job right. I just cannot find myself changing my writing habits just so that I don't have to manually add a $ sign here and there. However, I find the measurement conversions quite useful.
